Job summary

OpenAI is seeking an Applied AI Engineer focused on Codex for startups. You will work with frontier startups to design and deploy practical AI coding workflows, deliver technical talks, live demos, and workshops, and build reusable tools that scale adoption across our ecosystem.

The role combines hands-on engineering, startup experience, and clear technical communication, helping startups ship software responsibly while feeding insights back to OpenAI’s Product, Research, and Engineering teams.

Qualifications

Experience building at or with early-stage startups.
Strong software engineering fundamentals.
Active user of Codex or AI coding tools.
Excellent communicator with talk and demo capabilities.
Ability to turn complex technical ideas into reusable resources.

Responsibilities

Partner with top startups to identify Codex impact on software development.
Design and lead talks, demos, workshops, and hands-on programmes.
Work with customers to build Codex workflows, integrations, and automations.
Turn successful approaches into reusable code examples and tools.
Collaborate with account teams to reach developers and drive customer value.
Translate customer experiences into actionable insights for product and engineering teams.
