Job summary

Virgin Hotels Edinburgh is seeking a Cocktail Waiter/ess to deliver exceptional guest experiences in a vibrant hotel setting. You will welcome guests, take orders for cocktails and beverages, and ensure smooth service from prep to presentation.

The role requires passion for serving others, careful bar care, and the ability to guide guests through hotel and local city highlights while maintaining high standards of safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• Must have current right to work in the UK.
• 1–2 years’ experience as a Cocktail Waiter/tress in a full-service restaurant or lounge with cocktail knowledge.
• Demonstrates passion for serving others and creating a memorable guest experience.

Responsibilities

• Love people and provide excellent service to guests.
• Prep and maintain the bar daily, and clean it at the end of the shift.
• Keep a clean, hygienic and organized work area; stock supplies and glassware.
• Enter items into the POS system and charge guests accurately.
• Guide guests through hotel amenities and ensure guests are of legal drinking age.

Sometimes a guest wants to be introduced to a handcrafted cocktail or a celebratory bottle of wine. Other times, a guest just wants a local, favourite brew. As the Cocktail Waiter/tress you cater to all because what matters to you in the end is that our guests are happy and comfortable in our presence. Most of all, we want you to have FUN since you will play a huge role in creating that memorable guest experience!

Role Responsibilities:

What exactly you will be doing…

• The cocktail waiter/tress must love people and have a passion for serving others
• Preparation will be key. Prep the bar daily, maintain it during the shift and clean it nightly in preparation for the next shift
• Maintain a clean, hygienic and organised work environment including stocking of supplies, washing and polishing glassware, folding napkins, cleaning menus, sanitising tables, etc.
• Stock the bar as necessary in accordance with company guidelines regarding stock requisition
• Adhere to company standards regarding food and beverage knowledge
• Orchestrate an extraordinary guest experience through positive guest interaction
• Be able to guide guests through aspects of our hotel and our city
• Ensure that guests are of legal drinking age by asking for an appropriate ID
• Accurately enter all items into POS system and charge guests accordingly
• Comply with sanitation standards and notify management of any issues

Background must-have:

• Current right to work in the UK
