Job summary

Moody’s RMS seeks a scientist to advance storm surge and coastal modelling in London. You will build storm surge, wave and coastal defence model components and calibrate results against observed data, contributing to decision-ready risk assessments.

The role requires a PhD or MSc with relevant research experience, strong programming and data-analysis skills, and the ability to communicate complex insights to clients and colleagues.

Qualifications

• PhD in coastal ocean modeling or storm-surge related field; strong transferable skills for MSc candidates are considered.
• Experience in coastal dynamics/oceanography or coastal engineering.

Responsibilities

• Building and developing storm surge, wave and coastal defence model components
• Calibration and validation of model results (hazard and loss) against observed data and benchmarks
• Advancement of models through research and novel techniques
• Communicating research findings to clients and stakeholders
