Job summary

Moody's Analytics is seeking an Analytics & Modeling Analyst (Inland Flood) to join the Model Development team in London. You will contribute to developing and validating inland flood catastrophe models used to quantify and manage flood risk globally.

You will calibrate model components, analyze flood footprints with geospatial tools, and explore AI/ML methods for surrogate modeling and workflow automation, collaborating with scientists, engineers, and data specialists.

Qualifications

• PhD in hydrology, hydraulics, climate science, applied math, data science or related field.
• MSc candidates with strong research or industry experience are encouraged to apply.
• Experience with ML model training, validation, and evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Support development and validation of inland flood catastrophe models.
• Develop and apply large-scale flood hazard model components (stochastic rainfall, hydrology, routing).
• Calibrate and validate model components using observed data and benchmarks.
• Analyze flood footprints, hazard metrics, and loss patterns with geospatial tools.
• Explore AI/ML methods for surrogate modeling, downscaling, anomaly detection, and automation.
• Maintain reproducible workflows, data pipelines, and code repositories.
• Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and data specialists to ensure quality and innovation.
• Communicate findings to stakeholders and the scientific community through reports and talks.
