Job summary

Malabar Resources is seeking a Coal Chain Planning & Process Superintendent to join our team. Reporting to the Infrastructure Manager, you will plan, optimise and manage the coal processing and coal chain, balancing production, CHPP capacity, product quality and inventories to meet customer commitments.

ABOUT US

The Maxwell Underground Mine, owned by Malabar Resources Ltd has commenced operations at their Hunter Valley site, with planned production of up to 8 million tonnes of per annum. With approvals in place out to 2046, the mine targets high quality coal with the majority being metallurgical coal.

Malabar Resources is an independent Australian-based resources company located in the Upper Hunter Valley, in New South Wales.

In addition to the Maxwell Underground Mine, we own the Maxwell Solar Farm based on rehabilitated land on the Maxwell Infrastructure site, Maxwell Infrastructure, the Spur Hill Underground Project, and agricultural properties including the Merton Vineyard.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Due to our ongoing growth, we are now seeking an enthusiastic Coal Chain Planning & Process Superintendent to join our team. Reporting to the Infrastructure Manager, you will be

responsible for the planning, optimisation and performance of the site's coal processing and coal chain. The role develops integrated processing and logistics plans that maximise business value by balancing mining production, CHPP capacity, product quality, stockpile inventories and customer commitments.

Working closely with the Logistics Superintendent, Mining, Technical Services, Commercial and Maintenance teams, the role ensures coal inventories are effectively managed, processing priorities are optimised and sufficient product is available to meet customer demand.

The position provides technical leadership and drives continuous improvement across the coal chain through data analysis, collaboration and business improvement initiatives.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

If successful, the incumbent will have:

• Tertiary qualification in Engineering (Chemical, Mining, Mechanical or Industrial), Mineral Processing, Metallurgy, or a related discipline, or equivalent operational experience.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety leadership in a mining environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to build strong relationships across multiple disciplines.
• Strong facilitation and meeting management skills.
• Ability to influence stakeholders without direct authority.
• Demonstrated leadership, coaching and mentoring capability.
• Current NSW Class C Driver Licence
• Post graduate qualifications in Business, Management or Supply Chain and/or experience in Coal Logistics, Rail Planning or Coal Quality Management would be advantageous.
