Job summary

Comton Group in Halesowen is seeking an experienced CNC Vertical Borer & Lathe Operator to join an established engineering environment. You will program, set up, and operate CNC lathes and vertical borers, machining large shafts and components to tight tolerances, reading drawings, and ensuring quality checks.

The role requires strong CNC programming skills, experience with steady rests, and the ability to work to close tolerances.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' experience working on lathes.
• CNC programming experience, preferably from drawings/specifications.
• Experience machining large shafts or similar large components.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and perform dimensional checks.

Responsibilities

• Programming, setting and operating CNC lathes and vertical borers.
• Machining large shafts and components to tight tolerances.
• Use steady rests for long/large components.
• Read drawings and perform dimensional inspections.
• Maintain high quality and safety throughout the process.
