Job summary

Adore Recruitment Ltd is seeking an experienced CNC Turner/Setter- Programmer for a permanent role in Canvey Island, Essex. You will set, program and operate Mori Seiki turning centres, interpret drawings and ensure high-quality components are produced to precise tolerances.

Successful candidates will have proven CNC Turner experience, Mori Seiki and Fanuc control knowledge, and the ability to program from drawings. Overtime is paid and a stable, established engineering team awaits.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a CNC Turner or Setter-Programmer.
• Experience setting and operating CNC turning centres.
• Mori Seiki experience with Fanuc controls.
• Ability to program and set machines from drawings.
• Strong interpretation of engineering drawings and tolerances.
• Experience using inspection/measuring equipment.
• Experience in precision engineering or subcontract manufacturing is beneficial.
• Experience machining steel, cast iron and nonferrous materials; manual machining is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Set, program and operate Mori Seiki CNC lathes/turning centres.
• Program using Fanuc controls and G-code.
• Read imperial and metric engineering drawings.
• Carry out machine setups and changeovers.
• Select tooling and set offsets for quality.
• Identify and adjust tooling to maintain component quality.
• Perform first-off and in-process inspections.
• Use standard measuring equipment for verification.
• Monitor machine performance and adjust as needed.
• Produce components to drawing specs and tolerances.
• Complete production and inspection documentation.
• Maintain a clean, safe, organized workspace.

CNC Turner / Setter-Programmer

Precision Engineering – CNC Turning

Canvey Island, Essex

Permanent Position

We’re partnered with an established precision engineering business based in Canvey Island, supplying components across the automotive, agricultural and wider engineering sectors.

Due to continued demand, they’re looking for an experienced CNC Turner / Setter-Programmer to join their established engineering team.

This is a hands‑on machining role for someone who can confidently set, programme and operate CNC turning centres and enjoys producing high‑quality components from engineering drawings.

You’ll be working with Mori Seiki CNC lathes and Fanuc controls, taking responsibility for machine set‑up, programming, tooling, offsets and inspection.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for setting and programming CNC turning machinery, producing components accurately and efficiently while maintaining high standards of quality throughout the manufacturing process.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Setting, programming and operating Mori Seiki CNC lathes / turning centres
• Programming using Fanuc controls and Gcode
• Reading and interpreting imperial and metric engineering drawings
• Carrying out machine setups and changeovers
• Selecting and setting tooling
• Adjusting tooling and offsets to maintain component quality
• Carrying out firstoff and in-process inspections
• Using standard measuring and inspection equipment
• Monitoring machine performance and making adjustments where required
• Producing components to drawing specifications and tolerances
• Completing production and inspection documentation
• Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment
• Working efficiently to meet production requirements without compromising quality

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience as a CNC Turner, CNC Setter or CNC Setter-Programmer
• Strong experience setting and operating CNC turning centres
• Mori Seiki experience
• Good knowledge of Fanuc controls
• Ability to programme and set machines independently
• Strong engineering drawing interpretation skills
• Good understanding of tooling, offsets and machining processes
• Experience using inspection and measuring equipment
• Reliable, practical and qualityfocused approach
• Experience within a precision engineering or subcontract manufacturing environment would be advantageous.
• Experience machining steel, cast iron and nonferrous materials, as well as manual machining experience, would also be beneficial.
