Job summary

Rheinmetall is launching a new production site in Telford for large calibre barrels. We are seeking a skilled CNC Setter/Operator to join the team during this exciting growth phase and help establish efficient, high-precision manufacturing processes.

You will prepare and run CNC turning equipment, work in a 3-shift operation, and ensure components meet strict tolerances. The role offers stability, career development and a modern, clean environment.

Qualifications

• Experience as CNC-Operator on turning machines.
• Ability to read technical drawings and instructions.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, set up and operate large CNC machines in a 3-shift operation.
• Machining of high-quality components with tight tolerances.
• Production according to SAP production orders and instructions.
• Check and measure finished components per specs and test plans.
• Report production metrics via the factory data collection system.
• Select correct tools for tasks according to SWI.
• Provide input for continuous improvement of processes and tools.
• Support maintenance to fix equipment issues.

About Rheinmetall

One of Europe's most modern production facilities is currently being setup in Telford – the "UK Gun Hall" project.

Rheinmetall Weapon Munitions UK Limited (RWM UK) – a wholly owned subsidiary of the Rheinmetall Group and part of the Weapon and Ammunition Division – is Rheinmetall's centre of excellence for the production and maintenance of large calibre weapon systems in the United Kingdom.

What You Will Be Doing

• Preparation, set-up and operation of large CNC machines (CNC-turning machines, deep-drilling-machines, honing and rifling machines, etc.) in a 3-shift operation
• Machining of high-quality components for large calibre weapons systems up to 10m in length with very tight tolerances
• Production according to SAP production orders and production instructions
• Checking and measuring the finished components according to technical specifications and/or test plans, including regular worker self-checks during each production step
• Reporting production metrics through the factory data collection system
• Selecting correct tools for tasks according to SWI
• Give input for continuous improvement of related processes, worksteps, tools, etc. to improve overall performance
• Report to and support maintenance to fix issues with equipment

What Qualifications You Should Have

• Experience as a CNC-Operator and knowledge of working on CNC-machines (turning technology)
• Ability to read and understand specifications, technical drawings, work instructions and test procedures.
• Competent in using jigs and fixtures.
• Competent in using hand tools and equipment
• Competent in use of measuring equipment for worker self checks
• Understanding and application of quality control within the production line.
• Motivated and disciplined with an excellent work ethic, technical aptitude, continuous improvement mind-set and can demonstrate attention to detail.
