Job summary

Yolk Recruitment is seeking a CNC Turner Programmer/Setter/Operator in Plymouth. You will program, set and operate a Doosan Puma 2600L lathe to produce bespoke components from drawings and raw material in a low-volume, varied environment.

The role requires strong Fanuc controls knowledge, ability to program from scratch and independent decision making, with a focus on quality and attention to detail across defence, manufacturing and industrial projects.

Responsibilities

• Program, set and operate a Doosan Puma 2600L CNC lathe with Fanuc controls.
• Produce components from engineering drawings and raw material.
• Program from scratch for one-off and low-volume work.
• Select tooling, machining strategies and processes independently.
• Handle multiple varied jobs daily in a dynamic environment.
• Work with stainless steel, aluminium, alloys, engineering plastics and carbon steels.
• Inspect own work to ensure compliance with drawings and quality standards.

CNC Turner Programmer / Setter / Operator

£35,000 - £40,000 | Plymouth | One-Off & Bespoke Machining

Are you a CNC Turner who enjoys genuine engineering rather than running the same production parts day after day? This is an opportunity to join a well-established precision engineering business supporting a range of challenging projects across defence, manufacturing and industrial sectors.

Working within a small, highly skilled team, you'll programme, set and operate a Doosan Puma 2600L lathe to produce bespoke components from raw material through to finished part. This is a low-volume environment where every day is different and your ability to think independently, solve problems and machine from drawings will be valued.

This is what you'll be doing

• Programming, setting and operating a Doosan Puma 2600L CNC lathe with Fanuc controls
• Producing components from engineering drawings and raw material
• Programming from scratch for one-off and low-volume work
• Selecting tooling, machining strategies and processes independently
• Manufacturing components in a varied environment where several completely different jobs may pass through the machine each day
• Working with a range of materials including stainless steel, aluminium, alloys, engineering plastics and carbon steels
• Inspecting your own work to ensure components meet drawing and quality requirements

The experience you'll bring to the team

• Proven CNC Turning experience with programming, setting and operating responsibilities
• Strong Fanuc control knowledge
• Experience programming from scratch rather than editing existing programs
• Ability to work confidently from engineering drawings
• Experience machining one-off, prototype, low-volume or subcontract components
• Strong understanding of tooling, cutting data and machining methods
• Ability to work independently and make informed machining decisions
• Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail

• Monday to Thursday: 07:30 - 16:30
