Job summary

Hunter Selection is seeking a CNC Turner in Knutsford to set and operate CNC turning machinery, producing precision-engineered components and ensuring quality against drawings. The role involves material verification, programme modification, and adherence to safety standards.

Qualifications

• Proven experience machining components using CNC and manual lathes.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in precision engineering, toolroom or manufacturing.
• Ability to read and work from engineering drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Responsibilities

• Set and operate CNC turning machinery to produce precision components.
• Verify incoming materials against job requirements and report issues.

• Manufacture components per drawings and production schedules.
• Conduct machine safety checks and maintain safe working practices.
• Inspect finished parts for dimensional and quality standards.
• Carry out finishing operations as required (deburring, engraving, blasting).
• Save and manage machining programmes for future runs.
• Complete production documentation and report progress to Team Leader.
• Assist with manufacture of fixtures, tooling and jigs as needed.
• Follow preventative maintenance procedures and operator care routines.
• Monitor fluid and oil levels for optimum machine performance.

Role Description

• Set and operate CNC turning machinery to produce precision-engineered components
• Verify incoming materials against job requirements and report any issues to the Team Leader
• Modify and optimise CNC programmes where required to achieve quality and efficiency targets
• Manufacture components in line with engineering drawings and production schedules
• Conduct machine safety checks and ensure safe working practices are maintained at all times
• Inspect completed parts to ensure they meet dimensional and quality standards
• Carry out finishing operations including deburring, engraving and blasting where required
• Save and manage machining programmes for future production runs
• Complete production documentation and communicate progress with the Team Leader
• Assist with the manufacture of fixtures, tooling and jigs to support production requirements
• Follow preventative maintenance procedures and operator care routines
• Monitor fluid and oil levels to ensure optimum machine performance

Skills & Experience

• Previous experience machining components using CNC and manual lathes
• Minimum of one year's experience within a precision engineering, toolroom or manufacturing environment
• Ability to read and work from engineering drawings
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
• Comfortable working within a fast-paced workshop environment
• Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem solving
