Job summary

Morgan Jones is recruiting a skilled CNC Setter/Operator for a Rochester-based precision engineering environment. You will set and operate multiple CNC machines, reading engineering drawings and ensuring production targets are met with high-quality standards.

The role requires 3+ years of CNC setting/operating experience, an engineering apprenticeship, and the ability to work from drawings. You will handle changeovers, programming tweaks, and routine checks across rotating shifts.

Qualifications

• GCSEs or equivalent in English and Maths.
• Relevant engineering apprenticeship.
• Minimum three years' CNC setting and operating experience.
• Previous manufacturing environment experience.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

• Set and operate Mori Seiki, Muratec and Citizen CNC machines.
• Carry out machine changeovers and production runs.
• Work from engineering drawings, works orders and material specifications.
• Set and operate lathes and machining centres using Fanuc and Mitsubishi control systems.
• Modify and create CNC programmes as required.
• Produce components to strict tolerances and quality standards.
• Complete inspections using micrometres and height gauges.
• Record quality and production data accurately.
• Conduct daily machine checks and routine maintenance activities.
• Maintain 5S housekeeping and adhere to health, safety and quality procedures.

The Role

You will be responsible for setting and operating CNC machinery to achieve production targets while maintaining exceptional quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Set and operate Mori Seiki, Muratec and Citizen CNC machines
• Carry out machine changeovers and production runs
• Work from engineering drawings, works orders and material specifications
• Set and operate lathes and machining centres using Fanuc and Mitsubishi control systems
• Modify and create CNC programmes as required
• Produce components to strict tolerances and quality standards
• Complete inspections using micrometres, Verniers, height gauges and other measuring equipment
• Record quality and production data accurately
• Conduct daily machine checks and routine maintenance activities
• Maintain excellent housekeeping standards in line with 5S principles
• Adhere to all health, safety and quality procedures

What We Need from You

• GCSEs or equivalent in English and Maths
• Relevant engineering apprenticeship
• Minimum three years' CNC setting and operating experience
• Previous manufacturing environment experience
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Good communication, literacy and numeracy skills
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
• Flexible approach to shift work

Desirable Experience

• CNC programming qualification
• Fanuc and Mitsubishi controls experience
• Knowledge of Mori Seiki, Citizen and Muratec machinery
