Job summary

Watson-Marlow Fluid Technology Solutions, part of Spirax Group, seeks a CNC Setter/Operator in Falmouth to join the machine shop. You will set and operate CNC equipment to produce high-quality machined parts for biopharma, medical, water, food, and other critical industries.

You will support fixed head CNC lathes, multi-axis milling, and 10-axis CNC sliding head turning, while maintaining TPM standards and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Experience in a manufacturing environment within a machine shop.
• Relevant engineering qualification and/or demonstrated CNC turning experience.
• Keen eye for detail and drive for process improvement.
• Ability to work with others to achieve team goals.
• Willingness to mentor and train apprentices and operators.

Responsibilities

• Set and operate equipment in the Watson-Marlow machine shop to ensure products meet quality specs and are delivered on time.
• Maximise machine utilisation by coordinating with other operators.
• Promote Environmental Health and Safety practices throughout the machine shop.
• Collaborate with the production team to deliver components as planned.
• Use knowledge to drive best practices and maintain TPM standards.
• Support TPM team and the GEM/Lean initiatives where required.
• Adhere to company values and participate in 5S activities in the workshop.
• Work with team leaders and technicians for personal development and SOP improvement.
• Assist quality team with RCCA (Root Cause and Corrective Action).

Salary: Hourly rate £15.78p - £16.97 plus shift allowance on top of this (24.87% (equalised across the 2 shifts))

Shift Pattern: Week 1 - 16am - 2pm; Week 2 - 2pm - 10pm

Role Summary

Working closely as part of the machine shop manufacturing team to produce high quality machined products supporting the assembly and tubing function. Setting and operating CNC machines to enable the production of various sizes, lengths and specification of machined products supporting critical industries including biopharma, medical, water, food, and special processing industries.

Supporting Fixed Head CNC lathes (up to 10 axis) , Multi axis Milling equipment (3,4 and 5axis) and CNC sliding head turning (up to 10 axis)

What you’ll be doing

• Set and operate equipment within theWatson-Marlow Limited Machine shop (Falmouth), in order to ensure that allproducts are supplied efficiently, on time, in full and to the qualityspecification required to meet customer needs.
• Work with operators to ensure thatmachine utilisation is maximised.
• Promote good Environmental Health andSafety processes throughout the Machine shop area.
• Work with the production team todeliver the required components to plan.
• Use your knowledge to improve bestpractice
• Maintain equipment so that it willexceed customer expectations through Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM)and early fault diagnosis.
• Support the TPM team during theiractivities
• Support the Global Excellence inManufacturing (GEM / Lean) process
• Know and support the company’s values.
  Support 5s activities within theworkshop.
• Proactively work with the team leaderand technicians to further your personal development.
• Use and develop Standard OperatingProcedures (SOPs) to support business continuity.
• Support the quality team on RCCA (RootCause and Corrective Action).

This is what you’ll need to be successful in this role

• Experience working in a manufacturing environment based within a machine shop.
• Relevant engineering qualification and/or suitable demonstrated experience CNC turning.
• A keen eye for detail and a willingness to utilise all available resources to drive process improvement.
• The ability to work with others to achieve the team goals
• Willingness to Mentor and train apprentices and operators to improve their skill set and understanding of machining.
