Job summary

Omega is seeking an experienced Electrical CNC Maintenance Engineer for a Manchester-based, field-based role with UK travel as required. You will diagnose, repair, and service CNC machine tools, taking responsibility for electrical/electronic systems and safety circuits across customer sites.

Responsibilities include installation, commissioning, preventive maintenance and customer training, with a focus on Heidenhain, SINUMERIK and Fanuc controls.

Qualifications

• Proven experience servicing and repairing CNC machine tools.
• Strong electrical/electronic fault-finding skills.
• Hands-on experience with CNC controls (Heidenhain, SINUMERIK, Fanuc).
• Reading and interpreting electrical drawings/schematics.
• Knowledge of servo systems, drives, PLCs and safety circuits.
• Experience with diagnostic tools and OEM software.
• Able to work independently in a field-based environment.
• Full UK driving licence; willingness to travel overnight.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing.
• Fault-find on CNC systems, drives, PLCs and safety circuits.
• Support CNC controls troubleshooting (Heidenhain, SINUMERIK, Fanuc).
• Interpret schematics and technical documentation.
• Backup/restore CNC parameters and machine data.
• Test, calibrate and verify machine operation.
• Provide technical support and training to customers.
• Complete service reports accurately and promptly.

Job Title: Electrical CNC Maintenance Engineer

Location: Manchester based Flexible / Field-Based (UK travel as required)

We are seeking an experienced Electrical CNC Maintenance Engineer to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an Electrical CNC Maintenance Engineer who is looking for a field-based role with variety, autonomy, and excellent career development prospects.

Key Responsibilities - Electrical CNC Maintenance Engineer

• Install and commission CNC machine tools and automation equipment
• Diagnose and repair electrical, electronic, and CNC control faults
• Carry out preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing
• Fault-find on CNC systems, servo drives, spindle drives, motors, PLCs, and safety circuits
• Support troubleshooting of CNC controls including Heidenhain, Siemens SINUMERIK and Fanuc
• Interpret electrical schematics, ladder diagrams, and technical documentation
• Backup and restore CNC parameters and machine data
• Perform machine testing, calibration, and operational verification
• Provide technical support and training to customers
• Complete service reports and documentation accurately and promptly
• Liaise with internal departments regarding parts and technical issues
• Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards and site procedures

Qualifications & Requirements - Electrical CNC Maintenance Engineer

• Proven experience servicing and repairing CNC machine tools
• Strong electrical and electronic fault-finding skills
• Hands‑on experience with CNC controls including Heidenhain, Siemens SINUMERIK and Fanuc
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics
• Solid knowledge of servo systems, AC/DC drives, PLCs, and machine safety circuits
• Experience using electrical test equipment and OEM diagnostic tools
• Ability to work independently in a field-based environment
• Excellent communication and customer-facing skills
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel with overnight stays
• HNC/HND or NVQ Level 3 in Electrical/Electronic Engineering is desirable
• PLC programming knowledge (Siemens STEP 7 / TIA Portal) is advantageous
