Job summary

IMI plc in Poole is seeking a Programmer Setter Operator to produce components to drawing tolerances within quality specifications. You will apply machining processes and write CNC programs to maximise production efficiency.

The role requires setting and running CNC machines (Mazak Mill/Turn), selecting tooling, and collaborating with Production Engineers. You will contribute to lean manufacturing, complete first-offs, and ensure documentation is accurate.

Qualifications

• Experience of setting and running CNC machines (Mazak Mill/Turn).
• Experience in conversational programming.
• Ability to work as part of a team or independently.
• Communicate issues and manufacturing improvements when identified.
• Knowledge of lean principles and basic computer use.

Responsibilities

• Read engineering drawings and plan method of manufacture.
• Select tooling and holding devices for manufacture.
• Liaise with Production Engineers for specialised tooling.
• Produce tooling and method sheets.
• Write CNC programs using machine tool conversational programming.
• Prove manufacturing method and optimise for production.
• Manufacture to correct drawing specifications.
• Carry out first off inspection.
• Complete feedback tickets of set and run times.
• Complete OEE data sheet.
• Ensure quality documentation is accurate.
• Maintain Lean principles.
• Liaise with Production Engineers to maximise productivity.
• Perform other duties as required.

Role Overview
The Programmer Setter Operator is responsible for producing components to drawing tolerances within the quality specification within the various industries IMI Poole operates.

The position requires someone skilled in machining processes to apply a logical approach to achieve production efficiency and targets.

Specific work elements of the job include: Selecting the best production methods, tooling, holding devices and the writing of programs.

Key Responsibilities

Duties will include but not be limited to:

• Read engineering drawings and plan method of manufacture
• Select the correct tooling and holding devices for manufacture
• Liaise with Production Engineers when specialised tooling is required
• Produce tooling and method sheets
• Write CNC programs using machine tool conversational programming
• Prove the manufacturing method and optimize for production
• Manufacture to correct drawing specifications
• Carry out own 1st off inspection
• Complete feedback tickets of set and run times
• Complete OEE data sheet
• Check and complete the necessary quality documentation
• Maintain Lean principles
• Ensure tooling and gauging are maintained to a high quality;
• Liaise with Production Engineers when required to ensure maximum productivity.
• Perform other such duties commensurate with the nature and level of the post as may be reasonably required.

Double Days shift pattern is as follows :-

Early Shift – Mon-Thurs 6am-14:15 and Friday 6am-12pm and then rotates to Late Shift Mon-Thurs 2:15pm-10:15pm and Fri 12pm-7:30pm. 2 weeks early then two weeks lates.
