Overview
We are currently recruiting for a CNC Programmer and Operatorto support one of our customers with a project that includes involvement in projects from concept through to the production of the product and requires a clear understanding of structure, manufacturing, tooling, assembly process and system interaction. The ideal candidate should possess a strong attention to detail, experience in technical documentation, and familiarity with electrical manufacturing processes. The hourly rate is negotiable based on experience, seniority, etc. with the contract deemed to be Inside of IR35 for Sub-contract labour but a Staff position is available for the right candidate. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering a high-quality service to our client and will be expected to be proactive and self-motivated in delivering the targeted outputs to support the product.
The Manufacturing Engineer will report directly to the Product Delivery Leader (PDL) and their role will involve them to be based at the Client's site.
Working within the ME team in our Marine Business Unit, successful candidate will join our experienced team, with whom you will work on varied projects in high-tech and future-oriented industries taking on exciting and responsible tasks according to your skills and knowledge, thus expanding your existing know-how.
Responsibilities
- Develop and write CNC programs based on engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Set up and operate CNC machines (e.g. mills, lathes) to produce precision components.
- Inspect and measure finished products to ensure conformance to specifications and quality standards
- Maintain tooling, fixtures, and equipment in good working condition.
- Troubleshoot machining issues and adjust programs or setups as necessary.
- Self-starter and self-motivator to drive themselves and others.
- Work with the engineering and operations team to troubleshoot any process or equipment issues through the new product introduction and into the series manufacture phase.
- Work in accordance with the Expleo QMS and customer quality requirements.
Qualifications
- Engineering Degree, or equivalent, with proven practical Engineering & manufacturing knowledge and experience
- Candidates without accredited qualifications will be considered depending upon experience
Essential skills
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Strong understanding of CNC programming languages (e.g. G-code, Fanuc, Mazak).
- Hands-on experience with CNC machine setup and operation.
- Basic knowledge of inspection tools (e.g. micrometers, verniers, CMM).
- A clear appreciation and understanding of a variety of manufacturing processes including those for composite and metallic components.
- An ability to find novel solutions to complex technical problems and to work with a broad team to deliver them.
- Excellent computer skills including high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Project or Primavera (or other equivalent planning tools).
- Ability to relate well to others, and build co-operative and collaborative working relationships, both internally and externally Organising and Time Management:
- Dedication to completing tasks in high quality and timely manner with an ability to predict complex project time-lines.
- Results orientated with ability to plan and deliver against project deadlines.
Experience
- Experience in CNC programming and machine operation in a manufacturing environment.
- Proven ability to work with tight tolerances and complex geometries.
- Experience with both manual and automated inspection techniques.Familiar with continuous improvement practices such as 5S or Lean Manufacturing
- Troubleshooting and resolving complex manufacturing and assembly issues (process and/or design related).
- Working in a low volume high complexity manufacturing environment.
- Working with design and development engineers in the early stages of a project.
- Composites manufacturing and assembly.
