Job summary

OSS in Thatcham, Berkshire, is seeking an experienced CNC Press Brake Operator to join its workshop team. You will set and operate multi-axis CNC press brakes, interpret drawings, select tooling and ensure high-precision parts are produced to spec.

The role offers a competitive hourly rate (£17.50-£25.00) with generous overtime and a stable, expanding manufacturing environment. Candidates should have proven experience in sheet metal fabrication, read blueprints, and maintain safety and quality

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a CNC Press Brake Setter/Operator in a precision fabrication or sheet metal environment.
• Strong blueprint reading skills with understanding of bend allowances and material characteristics.
• Ability to work independently, executing setups from start to finish.
• High attention to detail with a pride in producing clean, high‑performance metalwork.

Responsibilities

• Set and operate CNC Press Brakes (Amada, Bystronic, Trumpf or similar multi-axis machines).
• Select correct tooling, including top punches and bottom V-dies, based on material thickness and specifications.
• Interpret engineering drawings (blueprints) to determine bend sequences and tolerances.
• Form complex, high-precision parts in various metals (stainless steel, aluminium, mild steel).
• Perform self-inspection of finished parts using calipers, protractors, and verniers to guarantee strict quality standards.
• Adjust programs and machine settings to account for material variations and springback.
