Job summary

SMESTOW PATTERN & TOOL COMPANY LIMITED is seeking a dedicated CNC Operator/Programmer/Setter for a full-time, on-site role based in Dudley. You will program, set up, and operate CNC machinery to produce precision components according to technical drawings and specifications.

Daily duties include selecting tools, setting machine parameters, running machining cycles, and monitoring operations to ensure accuracy and efficiency.

Qualifications

• CAM programming and tooling for Iron, Aluminium, Steel & Resin Board.
• Machining and Milling with ability to interpret technical drawings and work to tight tolerances.
• Maintenance and troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
• Quality Control skills including dimensional inspection and documentation of results.
• Vocational training or apprenticeship in machining, CNC operation, or a related field.
• Ability to work accurately, follow safety procedures, and manage time effectively in a workshop environment.
• Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate with colleagues across production and engineering.
• Previous experience in a toolmaking, patternmaking, or precision manufacturing environment is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Program, set up and operate CNC machinery to produce precision components according to technical drawings and specifications.
• Select appropriate tools, set machine parameters, run machining cycles and monitor operations for accuracy and efficiency.
• Inspect finished parts, identify deviations and correct them, and perform routine maintenance checks to keep equipment in optimal condition.
• Collaborate with engineering and production colleagues to improve methods, optimize cycle times and maintain high safety and quality standards.
