Job summary

Technique-Recruitment Solutions Ltd in Norwich is seeking a CNC Operator and Programmer to operate and program the CNC extrusion machining centre for aluminium extrusions at our on-site manufacturing facility in Norwich.

The role requires a background in CNC router programming, strong engineering aptitude, and experience minding CNC machines in wood or metal. Salary is negotiable depending on experience, with standard hours Mon-Fri and seasonal hour variations.

Responsibilities

• Operate and program the CNC extrusion machining centre to produce aluminium extrusions with minimal waste.
• Coordinate with design engineers to resolve product queries and ensure accuracy.
• Organise work schedules with shop floor leaders to meet orders on time.
• Assist with maintenance in line with manufacturer guidelines and keep work areas clean and safe.
• Follow health and safety procedures at all times and use PPE as required.

Job description

Job Role: CNC Operator and Programmer

Location: Norwich

JOB PURPOSE: To operate and program CNC machines, with specific responsibility for the XYZ Milling and CNC extrusion machining centre for production of aluminium extrusions at our clients in our on-site manufacturing facility in Norwich. Machining methods and quality to be in accordance with agreed clients machining principles and procedures.

SALARY: Neg depending on experience

HOURS: Basic hours 8:30am – 5:00pm Mon – Fri lunch 1:00-1:30pm

Normal working hours are 7:00am – 5:00pm

Due to seasonal variations within the business these hours may be increased in the Winter, or reduced in the Summer.

HOLIDAYS: 32 days per annum, including 8 days for public holidays, 3 or 4 days to be taken over Christmas shut-down

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Essentials of the role:

1. CNC Extrusion Machining Centre Operator and Programmer:

• Operate and program the CNC extrusion machining centre, utilising the propriety software, ensuring the optimum process to achieve minimal material wastage and optimum machine utilisation, with a high standard of quality and with continuous improvement, reporting any problems or potential problems to your immediate supervisor.
• Train to be able to carry out the maximum range of tasks, for which they are capable, within the machining / finishing department, including operating and programming all CAD/CAM based CNC machines, and co-operate in a culture of job rotation
• Liaise with the design engineer to remove any ambiguity or resolve any product queries, ensuring a high level of accuracy, reporting any problems or potential problems to your immediate supervisor
• Liaise with the Machine Shop Department Leader, or in their absence with the production and engineering office personnel, to organise and implement work schedules to ensure the timely completion of all orders, reporting any shortage of material stock, tooling or consumables in a timely manner
• Assist with the operation of a full maintenance programme in accordance with the Machine manufacturer’s and clients guidelines and ensure that the machines, tools and working areas are kept clean and tidy ready to carry out the next task
• Comply with all aspects of the clients Health and Safety procedures at all times, ensuring any concerns are brought to the attention of your immediate supervisor without delay and that all defined personal protection equipment is utilised within the machine shop area or for the safe use of hand held tools e.g. hand routers, grinders, etc

The ideal candidate will have a good engineering aptitude, will be from a CNC router (or similar) programming background and have CNC machine minding experience within wood or metal work.
