Job summary

Major Recruitment is recruiting for a Sutton Coldfield-based client seeking an experienced CNC Operator to start immediately. The role covers setup, operation, and programming of Fanuc, Mazatrol and Mitsubishi controlled machines.

You will read 2D drawings, apply GD&T principles, select tools and fixtures, and inspect parts with precision equipment. A proactive, collaborative approach is essential to drive process improvements.

Qualifications

• Experience in CNC operation (3–5 years) required.
• Ability to read complex drawings and apply GD&T.
• Proficient with precision inspection tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges).
• Collaborative mindset; able to work with engineering/quality teams.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC machines including Fanuc-centres.
• Program using Fanuc, Mazatrol and Mitsubishi controllers.
• Interpret 2D drawings to generate machining programs.
• Choose tools, fixtures and optimize cutting parameters.
• Inspect parts with precision equipment and document QC data.
• Improve cycle times and contribute to process improvements.
• Maintain clean, safe, and organized work area.
• Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to refine designs.

Job description

Salary: GBP28000 - GBP30000 per annum + Parking, half day Fridays

Major Recruitment Oldbury are delighted to be recruiting for our Sutton Coldfield based client who are seeking an experienced CNC Operator to start immediately.

Hours of work are Monday toThursday 7.30am to 4pm and a 12.30pm finish on Fridays.

Duties and task will include:

• Set, and operate CNC machines including:
• Fanuc-controlled machining centers
• Mazak lathes and mills (Mazatrol)
• Interpret 2D engineering drawings and CAD data to generate accurate machining programs
• Select tools, set up fixtures, and optimize cutting parameters
• Measure and inspect parts using a wide range of precision equipment (micrometers, calipers, gauges)
• Complete and understand quality control documentation
• Optimize cycle times, reduce the number of machining operations, and contribute to process improvements
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
• Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to refine designs and improve manufacturability

• Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings and apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles

• Highly organized with good attention to detail
• Proactive mindset with the ability to identify and implement improvements
