Job summary

Rise Technical Recruitment has a CNC Setter role based in Bedford. The successful candidate will program, set up and operate 3-, 4- and 5-axis CNC milling machines on high-precision components for world-leading projects.

The position is days-based, Monday to Friday, 38 hours per week, with overtime/shift premiums, training, private health insurance and 26 days holiday plus bank holidays. A strong background in CNC machining and Heidenhain controls is preferred.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as CNC Machinist with 3- and 5-axis versatility.
• Skilled in setting up tooling and preparing workpieces.
• Qualified apprenticeship or higher in CNC machining; training available for Heidenhain.

Responsibilities

• Program, set up, and operate 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC milling machines.
• Work from detailed engineering drawings, applying GD&T principles.
• Operate multiple machines to meet production schedules.
• Work Monday to Friday, days-based (38 hours per week).
• Interpret technical drawings and machine bespoke parts to tight tolerances.

Overview

Excellent opportunity for an experienced CNC Machinist to join an innovative company during an exciting period of growth, taking on a key role in producing high‑precision components for world‑leading research projects. On offer is a hands‑on position where you will work on unique, high‑value components used to manufacture scaled models for aerodynamic testing in an industry‑leading facility. This company operates one of the only facilities in the world that specialises in this niche field. They are now looking for a skilled CNC Programmer/Operator to join their team and play a key part in the ongoing success and development of their globally recognised operation.

Responsibilities

• Programming, setting, and operating 3-, 4-, and 5‑axis CNC milling machines
• Working from detailed engineering drawings and applying GD&T principles
• Operating multiple machines as required to meet production schedules
• Monday to Friday, days‑based (38 hours per week)
• Setting and operating CNC milling machines (3, 4, and 5‑axis)
• Interpreting technical drawings and ensuring precise machining of bespoke parts to tight tolerances

Qualifications

• Proven CNC Machinist with experience in 3- and 5‑axis
• Skilled in CNC setup, tooling, and workpiece preparation
• HNC/HND, City & Guilds, or equivalent qualification/apprenticeship in CNC machining
• Experience with Heidenhain controls desirable (training available)
• Strong understanding of machining processes and high level of attention to detail
• Experience with CNC setting and operation, and interpretation of technical drawings
