Job summary

Acorn by Synergie is recruiting an experienced CNC Lathe Setter Operator to join a leading global manufacturer in Portsmouth. You will set and run CNC/NC lathes, prove out programmes and manufacture precision components to tight tolerances.

The role offers a permanent, full-time contract with rotating shifts, 37.5 hours per week, and a supportive, modern manufacturing environment. Applicants should have a time-served apprenticeship or recognised engineering qualification and strong Fanuc

Qualifications

• Experience setting and operating CNC/NC lathes.
• Ability to prove out new CNC programmes.
• Strong knowledge of Fanuc or similar controls.
• Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
• Competence in self-inspection and measuring with appropriate equipment.
• Experience machining stainless steel components.
• Time-served apprenticeship or recognised engineering qualification.
• Experience in a precision engineering/manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Set and operate CNC/NC lathe machinery.
• Prove out new and existing CNC programmes.
• Program and set machines using Fanuc or similar controls.
• Manufacture precision components to engineering specifications.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Carry out self-inspection using measuring equipment.
• Record production activities within internal scheduling systems.
• Report production issues to Team Leaders.
• Maintain high housekeeping standards through daily 5S activities.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across the machine shop.

Working Hours

• 37.5 hours per week.
• Week 1: 6am-2pm.
• Week 2: 2pm-10pm.
• Occasional night shifts may be required to meet business demands.

Key Duties
