Lambson Innovate Ltd. seeks a CNC Moulder Operator to convert MDF and plywood stock into precision architectural mouldings using WEINIG machinery. You will set up CNC moulders, adjust spindle speeds, verify dimensions with verniers and calipers, and ensure high-quality finishes while maintaining safety and housekeeping standards.
Role emphasizes first-off checks, ongoing quality monitoring, and collaboration with production teams to hit daily targets and minimise waste.
The CNC Moulder Operator role responsible for converting raw MDF and plywood stock into high-tolerance, precision-finished architectural mouldings and components. Operating the WEINIG CNC moulding machinery, you will manage material variations specific to engineered wood, minimise scrap during high-volume batch runs, ensuring products are manufactured to quality standards, production schedules are achieved, and all health, safety and housekeeping requirements are met.
Interpret production drawings, batch sheets, and CAD/CAM specs to configure multi-axis WEINIG CNC moulders.
Adjust computer parameters, axis offsets, spindle speeds (7,000–8,000 RPM), and variable feed rates via the machine control interface.
Select and mount high-speed cutter heads and specialized carbide or PCD (Polycrystalline Diamond) profile knives optimized for abrasive composite glues.
Calibrate pressure rollers and guide shoes to accommodate varying MDF densities and prevent plywood veneer delamination.
Perform mandatory “first-off” sample checks at the start of every new profile batch to verify geometric accuracy.
In-Process utilize vernier calipers, micrometers, and physical profile templates to monitor dimensions.
Measure and monitor in process critical product dimensions and specifications to ensure no drift during long runs.
Inspect finished pieces for surface integrity to ensure a smooth, defect-free surface that is 100% ready for downstream priming or veneering.
Segregate and log formally all non-conforming materials.
Record quality checks in accordance with company procedures.
Report quality concerns promptly and support corrective actions where required.
Develop a high level of attention to detail and commitment to right-first-time manufacturing.
Support the production team in achieving planned output, efficiency and delivery targets.
Execute and monitor large-scale and bespoke production runs to meet daily linear-metre targets.
Stage and feed raw materials efficiently to ensure uninterrupted machine utilization and maximum linear yield.
Identify and correct machining defects during the process (e.g., core tear-out, fuzzy edge Fibers, snipe, or burn marks) to minimize machine downtime.
Assist with reducing downtime by preparing materials and equipment efficiently.
Monitor production performance and report issues affecting productivity.
Minimise waste through correct machine operation and material handling.
Conduct routine daily preventative maintenance, including bed lubrication, spindle cleaning, and clearing composite dust buildup from mechanical tracks.
Carry out basic equipment inspections and identify signs of wear or damage.
Report machine faults to supervisors or maintenance personnel promptly.
Monitor dust extraction connections constantly to mitigate hazards related to fine, explosive MDF dust.
Follow all company health, safety and environmental procedures at all times.
Wear and maintain the correct personal protective equipment (PPE).
Participate in safety training, risk assessments and toolbox talks.
Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment using 5S and housekeeping standards.
Report hazards, incidents and near misses immediately.
Demonstrate safe working practices around moving machinery, adhesives, heat sources and mechanical equipment.
Complete daily safety checklists, ensuring all physical interlocking enclosures and emergency stop (E-stop) circuits function perfectly.
Work effectively with operators, team leaders, maintenance personnel and quality teams.
Communicate production issues, defects and machine concerns clearly and promptly.
Take an active role in training and personal development activities.
Demonstrate a positive attitude, willingness to learn and commitment to continuous improvement.
Contribute to team objectives and support colleagues where required.
Undertake any other reasonable duties as required by management, appropriate with the nature, level and responsibilities of the role.
Demonstrate flexibility in supporting wider operational and business requirements as necessary.
