Job summary

HR GO Recruitment is seeking a hands-on CNC Milling Section Supervisor to lead a machining cell within a fast-expanding precision engineering business. You will work closely with the Shop Manager and senior programmers, overseeing shift performance and supporting apprentice development, while stepping onto machines when required.

You will oversee CNC milling operations, ensure quality and on-time delivery, and play a key role in training and mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on CNC milling background (setting/machining; programming understanding beneficial).
• Experience supervising or leading a team (or ready to step up into a leadership role).
• Good working knowledge of quality/inspection in a precision manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Build working knowledge of all CNC section machines, including material machining methods and setups.
• Provide day-to-day leadership to the CNC milling section and ensure production hours and priorities are met.
• Support and deliver in-house training for part setting and machining.
• Develop apprentices/trainees: identify training needs and coach in best practice.
• Support machining on HAAS mills and other equipment: prove-outs and running parts.
• Identify subcontract parts to bring back in-house and plan future machine needs.
• Manage staffing/holiday planning across shifts to maintain production coverage.
• Run machines to cover holidays, sickness, and urgent demand.
• Help implement and improve inspection/quality initiatives with CNC leadership.
• Create/setup sheets, tooling lists, and supporting documentation as required.
• Attend meetings as required.
