Whiteland Engineering Ltd. is seeking an experienced CNC Milling Programmer / Setter / Operator in Bideford, Devon. The role involves programming, setting and operating CNC milling machines to produce precision components to drawing specifications.

You will read engineering drawings, select tooling, set offsets and handle first-off inspections while maintaining safety and high quality. Relocation and accommodation support are available for the right candidate.

Qualifications

CNC Milling Programmer / Setter / Operator

Location: Bideford, Devon

Salary: £37,440 – £45,760 per annum, depending on experience

Are you an experienced CNC Miller looking for a long-term opportunity in a friendly, supportive engineering company?

We are currently looking for an experienced CNC Milling Programmer / Setter / Operator to join an established, family-run engineering business in Bideford, North Devon.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys being hands-on, takes pride in producing quality precision components, and wants to work for a company that genuinely values its people.

Relocation support is available, with accommodation assistance provided for the first six months for the right candidate.

The Role

You will be responsible for the programming, setting and operating of CNC milling machines, producing precision components to drawing and specification.

This is a hands-on role where you will have the opportunity to take ownership of your work, from setting up the machine through to producing and inspecting the finished component.

You will be involved in:

• Programming CNC milling machines from engineering drawings
• Setting and operating CNC milling machinery
• Selecting appropriate tooling and machining methods
• Setting work offsets, tool offsets and datums
• Producing one-off, prototype and/or small-batch precision components
• Reading and interpreting detailed engineering drawings
• Carrying out first-off and in-process inspection
• Working to tight tolerances and high-quality standards
• Troubleshooting machining issues and making programme/tooling adjustments
• Supporting improvements to machining methods and processes
• Maintaining a safe, clean and organised working environment

What We're Looking For

We're looking for an experienced CNC Miller / Programmer / Setter / Operator who can work confidently with a good level of independence.

Ideally, you will have:

• Previous experience programming, setting and operating CNC milling machines
• Strong knowledge of CNC machining principles, tooling and cutting data
• The ability to read and understand engineering drawings
• Experience working to tight tolerances
• A good understanding of workholding, datums and offsets
• A completed engineering apprenticeship or equivalent practical experience
• A reliable and professional approach to your work
• The ability to work independently while also being part of a close-knit team

Experience with Hurco, XYZ or Siemens controls would be highly desirable, although candidates with strong experience on other CNC controls are encouraged to apply.
