Job summary

WLR Precision Engineering in the United Kingdom is seeking an experienced CNC Miller and Programmer to join our precision manufacturing team. You will program, set and run CNC milling machines to produce high‑quality components to drawing specifications while maintaining safety, quality and efficiency.

The role requires reading engineering drawings, setting tooling and offsets, and delivering first‑off components and production parts. Strong attention to detail and problem solving are essential.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a CNC Miller.
• Experience programming CNC milling machines.
• Ability to read engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

• Create, edit and optimise CNC milling programmes using CAD/CAM software and machine controls.
• Produce first-off components to drawing specifications.
• Modify and improve existing programmes to reduce cycle times.
• Set and operate CNC milling machines.
• Select suitable tooling, fixtures and workholding.
• Produce one-off and batch components to engineering drawings.
• Carry out tool changes and offsets.
• Inspect components using verniers, micrometers, bore gauges and height gauges.
• Complete first-off inspections.
• Report any non-conformances immediately.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and quality.
• Support Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
• Follow all Health, Safety & housekeeping procedures.
• Wear required PPE.
• Maintain excellent housekeeping and routine machine maintenance.

The successful candidate will be responsible for programming, setting and operating CNC milling machines to manufacture precision engineered components to the highest quality standards while maintaining safety, quality and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Programming

• Create, edit and optimise CNC milling programmes using CAD/CAM software and machine controls.

Setting & Operating
