Westray Recruitment Group is representing an established family-owned engineering business in Saltburn-by-the-Sea, recruiting a CNC Miller/Horizontal Borer. You will set up and program high-capacity machines, read complex drawings, and produce precision parts while ensuring strict quality standards.

Qualifications

• Time-served via a recognised Machine Shop apprenticeship.
• Experience operating milling machines or horizontal borers.
• Strong CNC programming skills with FANUC experience.

Responsibilities

• Produce precision parts from billets, fabrications, castings, and forgings.
• Set, program, and operate Ward Hyundai Wia KBN135-CL and Hartford PBM135C machines.
• Read and interpret complex engineering drawings.
• Carry out precise manual measurements for dimensions and finishes.
• Maintain quality and handle high-value customer components.
• Set one-off jobs efficiently and accurately.

Westray Recruitment Group is seeking a CNC Miller / Horizontal Borer on behalf of an established, family-owned engineering business providing precision machining, fitting and assembly, balancing, shot blasting and painting, pressure testing and associated engineering services to customers across a range of demanding industries.

Specialising in small-to-large-scale precision engineering, our client serves high-integrity, demanding sectors including defense, marine, rail, and power exporting high-quality British manufacturing globally. Following recent investment in new plant machinery and facility upgrades, they are now seeking to expand their team within a clean, modern, and supportive working environment.

THE ROLE

• Produce a wide range of precision parts from billets, fabrications, castings, and forgings.
• Set, program, and operate key high-capacity machinery including:
• Ward Hyundai Wia KBN135-CL (2m x 1.8m table, 4m x 2m x 2m travel, 15-tonne table capacity, Fanuc CNC Control, 90 angled/orthogonal/facing heads, B-axis table 0.001 , ATC).
• Hartford PBM135C boring and milling machine (3000mm x 2000mm x 2000mm, 15-tonne table loading, FANUC 31iMB CNC control system).
• Set one-off jobs efficiently and accurately.
• Read and interpret complex engineering drawings.
• Carry out precise manual measurements for dimensions and surface finishes to ensure strict quality standards.
• Maintain a careful approach to quality and take responsibility for high-value customer components.

THE PERSON

• Time-served via a recognised Machine Shop apprenticeship.
• Proven experience operating milling machines or horizontal borers.
• Strong CNC programming skills (FANUC control experience is essential).
• Proficient in reading engineering drawings and using manual measurement equipment.
