Progress Rail, a Caterpillar company, is seeking 3 CNC Machinists to operate milling machines in Sheffield. Shifts include 3 or 2 patterns, with a salary of £36,870–£38,313 DOE (including shift allowance).

You will produce machined components to plan, ensure safety, and maintain quality in a busy machine shop. Candidates should have CNC milling experience, reading engineering drawings, and knowledge of Fanuc/Heidenhain/Siemens controls.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC milling machines.

SHEFFIELD

3 Shifts: Days: Monday to Thursday, 06:00 – 13:40 & Friday 06:00 – 13:00

Afters: Monday to Thursday, 13:35 – 21:15 & Friday 12:55 – 19:55

Nights: Monday to Thursday, 21:10 – 06:05

2 Shifts: Days: Monday to Thursday, 06:00 – 15:15

Afters: Monday to Thursday, 15:00 – 00:30

Progress Rail Services UK is looking to recruit 3 CNC Machinists to operate CNC Milling Machines and produce machined components to the production plan, in a safe and efficient manner, within the planned production time and to the required quality.

THE ROLE:

• Operate CNC milling machines.
• Accurately follow route card instructions SOP and reading of engineering drawings.
• Use of Dial test indicator (DTI) clock for probing and setting up the job.
• Identify and load the correct NC program and tooling for the parts to be machined.
• Use of overhead cranes will be required. Crane training would be an advantage, but training will be provided.
• Inspect products either on completion of machining or as a pre-machining or in process check as specified in the manufacturing instruction. This may involve the use of conventional measurement techniques using gauges or instruments and templates.
• Carry out required machine parameter changes associated with the set up.
• Test/dry run new or modified programs using appropriate machine functions and making required adjustments to machine and tool offsets to achieve the required size.
• Use the SFDC system to record both direct and indirect works in line with the Company’s procedures.
• Report possible or known errors in manufacturing instruction or other associated documentation to the Supervisor or Team leader
• Undertake any other task within the machine shop workflow when management requires.
• Self-inspection of parts produced, resolving non - conformance issues.

THE CANDIDATE:

• Previous experience should include manufacturing industry, preferably in a medium to heavy environment.
• CNC milling experience.
• Knowledge of Fanuc, Heidenheim, and Siemens would be an advantage.
• Ability to reading engineering drawings
• Awareness of safety legislation and quality procedures (ISO 9001)
• Attention to detail
