Job summary

Moog Wolverhampton Limited is seeking an Aerospace CNC Machine Operator to join the Prismatics team in Wolverhampton. You will operate a state-of-the-art Matsuura MAM72 5-axis centre to produce high-precision aerospace components and perform first-off, in-process and final inspections.

The role requires reading complex drawings, GD&T, and working with aerospace materials such as aluminium, titanium and stainless steels.

Qualifications

• Proven experience operating Matsuura MAM72 or similar 5-axis CNC machining centres.
• Aerospace manufacturing experience.
• Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings (GD&T).
• Experience machining to tight tolerances and high surface finish requirements.
• Knowledge of aerospace materials including aluminium, titanium, stainless steels.
• Experience using precision inspection equipment.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and quality focus.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate the Matsuura MAM72 5-axis machining centre.

What You'll Be Doing

As an Aerospace CNC Machine Operator, you'll play a critical role in delivering precision-machined components that meet the highest aerospace quality standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Setting up and operating the Matsuura MAM72 5-axis machining centre
• Loading programs, fixtures, tooling and components in line with engineering instructions
• Manufacturing complex components from aluminium, titanium, stainless steel and aerospace-grade alloys
• Carrying out first-off, in-process and final inspections
• Interpreting engineering drawings, specifications and GD&T requirements
• Monitoring tool wear and making offsets and tool changes as required
• Using precision measuring equipment including micrometers, verniers, bore gauges and height gauges
• Maintaining accurate production and traceability records
• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the manufacturing area
• Ensuring compliance with quality, safety and environmental standards

What We're Looking For

We're interested in candidates who have experience operating advanced CNC machining centres and a passion for delivering exceptional quality.

Essential Experience

• Proven experience operating Matsuura MAM72 or similar 5-axis CNC machining centres
• Aerospace manufacturing experience
• Strong understanding of CNC machining principles
• Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings
• Experience machining to tight tolerances and demanding surface finish requirements
• Knowledge of aerospace materials including: Aluminium alloys Titanium Stainless steels
• Experience using precision inspection equipment
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Excellent attention to detail and quality focus

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

• Time-served engineering apprenticeship NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent engineering qualification
• Experience working within an AS9100 environment
• Familiarity with Fanuc-based controls
• Experience of multi-pallet or lights-out manufacturing
• Crane and lifting equipment certification
