Job summary

Dover Precision Components in Glasgow is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to plan and execute CNC programming for high-precision metal parts at our Glasgow facility. The role focuses on lean processes, CAM/CNC optimization, and multi-axis machining within a high-mix environment.

You will work on Fanuc/Heidenhain controls, using FeatureCAM/EdgeCAM/Vericut to create and revise programs, develop setup docs, and support continuous improvement across departments.

Qualifications

• A technical or advanced trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering, or closely related field.
• Over 5 years’ experience in a similar role, within a precision engineering work environment.
• Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing philosophies and tools.
• Fluent in CNC programming and strong skills in various Microsoft Office packages.
• Experience with CNC Controls such as FANUC or HEIDENHAIN; CAD/CAM software such as FeatureCAM, EdgeCAM, Vericut.

Responsibilities

• Analyse drawings, sketches and design data of parts to determine dimensions and cutting parameters.
• Determine reference points and direction of machine cutting paths.
• Analyse routings during programming stage and update processes to maximise CNC tool usage.
• Compute dimensions and sequences to machine parts; create CNC programs.
• Create setup documents to supplement programs and revise as needed.
• Observe machine operation on trial runs to verify instructions.
• Liaise with Manufacturing Engineers and suppliers regarding tooling and fixturing.
• Develop and maintain standard programming guidelines for processes and programs.
