CNC Maintenance Engineer – 24/7 Shift, Electrical Bias

Job summary

Recruit Engineering are partnering with a well-established engineering and advanced manufacturing business based in Greater Manchester. They are recruiting a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer with an electrical bias to support CNC and automated equipment, ensuring high availability and reliability.

The role involves planned, preventative and reactive maintenance within a 24/7 manufacturing operation, with a rotating DuPont or Pitman-style shift pattern and bank holiday cover as needed.

Qualifications

• HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Electrical, Mechanical or Engineering discipline.
• Strong industrial maintenance experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Proven CNC machinery maintenance experience.
• Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic capability.
• Good understanding of PLCs, inverters and drives.
• Experience diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical equipment.
• A structured approach to fault finding and root-cause analysis.
• Experience working within a planned preventative maintenance environment.
• Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned, preventative and reactive maintenance across manufacturing equipment.
• Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical and control system faults.
• Maintain and fault-find on CNC machinery and associated equipment.
• Diagnose faults involving PLCs, inverters, drives and machine control systems.
• Support the transition towards a proactive and preventative maintenance culture.
• Investigate equipment failures and identify root causes.
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance activities to reduce repeat failures.
• Respond effectively to breakdowns and minimise production downtime.
• Record maintenance activities accurately, including parts used, time taken and equipment condition.
• Produce maintenance reports and provide feedback on recurring faults and reliability issues.
• Work closely with production and engineering teams to improve equipment availability and performance.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and problem-solving activities.
• Ensure all maintenance activities are completed in accordance with relevant Health, Safety and Environmental (SHE) requirements.
• Prioritise workload effectively while responding to changing production requirements.
