Job summary

Interaction Engineering in the United Kingdom is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist Setter Operator / Conventional Machinist to join its production team on a permanent PM shift, with afternoons and early evenings.

You will program, set up and operate CNC centres, and also handle manual mills and lathes to manufacture precision components. Reading technical drawings, selecting tooling, and performing first-off inspections will be routine, with a strong focus on quality, efficiency and safety.

Qualifications

• Proven experience programming, setting and operating CNC machinery.
• Strong manual machining experience.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Good understanding of geometric tolerancing and surface finish requirements.
• Experience machining stainless steel, mild steel and aluminium.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Self-motivated with problem-solving skills.
• Flexible and able to prioritise workloads.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Program CNC machines using G-code or CAM software (Siemens, EdgeCAM or similar).
• Set up and operate CNC machining centres.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Select appropriate tooling, cutting speeds and feeds for a range of materials.
• Carry out first-off inspections and in-process quality checks.
• Adjust machine programs and offsets to maintain dimensional accuracy.
• Operate conventional lathes, milling machines and drilling machines.
• Manufacture one-off and low-volume precision components.
• Deburr and finish machined parts to specification.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
• Complete job cards and production documentation accurately.
• Work collaboratively with Engineering and Quality teams to resolve manufacturing issues.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the department.
