Job summary

KandD Recruitment is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist Setter Operator / Conventional Machinist for a precision engineering environment in the UK. You will program, set and operate CNC machines and manual equipment to produce high-quality components from engineering drawings.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in manufacturing, strong CNC/ manual machining skills, and familiarity with Fanuc/Siemens controls and EdgeCAM CAM software. Work schedule: PM shift, Mon–Thu, 37.5 hours/week.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Proven experience in CNC programming, setting and operating.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Knowledge of geometric tolerancing and surface finishes.
• Experience machining stainless steel, mild steel and aluminium.
• Experience with Fanuc, Siemens or similar CNC controls.
• Experience with CAM software such as EdgeCAM or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Program, set and operate CNC machines using G-code and CAM software.
• Set up CNC machining centres and select appropriate tooling.
• Interpret complex engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Adjust programs, offsets, speeds and feeds to maintain accuracy.
• Carry out first-off inspections and in-process quality checks.
• Produce precision components to required tolerances and standards.
• Operate conventional/manual machinery including lathes and mills.
• Manufacture one-off and low-volume components and perform deburring.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.
• Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to resolve issues.
• Contribute to continuous improvement activities.
