Job summary

Theo James recruits on behalf of a UK engineering manufacturer in Stanhope to hire an experienced CNC Miller for a permanent night shift. You will set and operate CNC milling machines, predominantly Doosan with Fanuc controls, to produce precision components from engineering drawings.

Occasional lathe work may be required; daytime loading is not routine. This role offers long-term stability and a supportive environment.

Job Title: CNC Miller / CNC Machinist

Hourly Rate: Competitive
Shift: Permanent night shift (4 day week)

The Company

Theo James are recruiting on behalf of a highly regarded UK engineering manufacturer known for its quality workmanship and long-term career opportunities.

Due to an employee moving to a position closer to home, the company is looking to add an experienced CNC Miller to its machine shop. The business offers a supportive working environment, modern machinery and stable, long-term employment.

The Role

This is a hands-on CNC machining position working predominantly on CNC milling machines, most likely Doosan machines with Fanuc controls.

You will be responsible for setting and operating CNC machinery to manufacture precision components in accordance with engineering drawings and required quality standards.

Although this is primarily a milling role, there may occasionally be a requirement to load components onto CNC lathes. Turning will not form a significant part of the position.

The company is ideally looking for somebody who can work confidently with minimal supervision and is specifically seeking a permanent night-shift opportunity.

Key Responsibilities

• Set and operate CNC milling machines
• Work predominantly with Doosan machinery and Fanuc controls
• Manufacture precision components to engineering drawings
• Carry out tooling changes and machine adjustments
• Inspect completed components to ensure they meet the required specifications
• Maintain high standards of quality, accuracy and safety
• Occasionally load components onto CNC lathes
• Work effectively and independently during the permanent night shift

Skills and Experience

• Previous experience as a CNC Miller or CNC Machinist
• Strong CNC milling experience
• Experience setting and operating CNC machinery
• Familiarity with Doosan machines and Fanuc controls would be advantageous
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Confident carrying out tooling changes and machine adjustments
• CNC programming experience would be beneficial but is not essential
• A practical, reliable and quality-focused approach
• Willingness to work permanent nights
