Magellan Aerospace Blackpool is seeking a CNC Machinist to machine aircraft components using aluminium or titanium on 3, 4 and 5 axis machines. Day shifts, 7am–7pm, 34.5 hours weekly, with 4-week rotation schedule.

Permanent role at Blackpool Business Park, on a unionised site collaborating with Unite the Union. You will set up and operate multiple CNC machines, ensuring quality, safety, and first-pass yield.

Qualifications

• Good general education.
• Recognised Engineering qualification, minimum of City & Guilds/NVQ in Mechanical Engineering.
• HNC Qualification (desirable).

Responsabilités

• Set up and operate the machine tools.
• Operate multiple machines at once if required and safe.
• Communicate with supervisor, manager and colleagues.
• Perform component changeovers for own machines and colleagues.
• Deburr components and clean holes.
• Ensure accurate handover to next shift.
• Complete job card documentation correctly before next operation.
• Follow all health and safety policies and procedures.

Position Summary

Magellan Aerospace Blackpool has an exciting opportunity for a CNC Machinist.

• Full Time Permanent Position
• 34.5 hours per week
• Day Shifts of 7am-7pm
• 4 Week Rotations, Sun-Mon-Tues / Wed-Thurs-Fri
• Job location: Blackpool Business Park, Amy Johnson Way, Blackpool, FY4 2RP
• Unionised site – works in partnership with Unite the Union
• This role is governed by ITAR, restrictions may apply

Machining of aircraft components from generated engineering models to prescribed customer specification, using aluminium or titanium metal as required, utilising 3, 4 and 5 axis machine tools.

Essential Responsibilities

• A Grade 3 position has been fully signed off against the operation of 2 complete machining cells which could include working on aluminum and/or titanium metal parts on
  • 3 Axis machines
  • 4 Axis machines
  • 5 Axis machines
• Setting and operating the machine tools
• To be able to operate multiple machines at all times during shift when safe to do so
• To communicate efficiently and effectively with the supervisor, manager and colleagues
• To carry out component change overs for own machines and colleagues if required
• Carry out de-burring of components, including removal of sharp edges and cleaning of holes
• Route work as necessary to next operator as per work instructions or team lead direction
• Ability to resolve machining problems with minimum supervision
• Escalation of unresolved problems to Shift Leader, Team Leader or Manager as required
• Provide accurate handover information to next shift on current status and any issues arisen
• Ensure all job card documentation is filled in correctly before moving onto next operation
• To work in line with all company requirements including following work-to list and set up sheets
• Housekeeping and maintenance of own working environment including keeping area free of spills
• Work in a safe manner complying with all risk assessments and procedures in line with company Health and Safety policy, reporting any Health and Safety incidents that occur
• Actively support and contribute to the continuous improvement programme and lean manufacturing
• Any other reasonable duties required by management in support of the business

Skills / Knowledge Requirements

Academic:

• Good general education
• Recognised Engineering qualification, minimum of City & Guilds/NVQ in Mechanical Engineering
• HNC Qualification (desirable)

Experience:

• Minimum of 2 – 3 years of 3, 4 or 5 Axis machining
• Knowledge of Controls
• Health and Safety
• Aerospace manufacturing experience (desirable)
