Job summary

Tees Components Ltd. is seeking an Apprentice Trainer to develop and support our machine shop apprentices at our onsite training facility. You will guide a small cohort from entry level to competence in basic milling and turning and in shop floor behaviours.

The trainer will assist with recruitment, train apprentices for their first 12–18 months, and continue supporting them as they progress under works management supervision.

Qualifications

• Ability to supervise and mentor a cohort of apprentices in the machine shop.
• Experience with manual and CNC lathes and milling machines is preferred.
• Familiarity with reading drawings, GD&T, and tolerances.
• Ability to work with college/training providers and manage training plans.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a small cohort of apprentices in the on-site training workshop.
• Instruct apprentices in manual use, programming, setting principles, reading drawings and tolerances.
• Develop tasks and organize materials for apprentices to produce components.
• Oversee apprentices on production components.
• Support recruitment of new apprentices with senior managers.
• Review training plans and progress with assessors.
• Support Heads handling apprentice performance issues.
• Liaise with training providers and share updates on progress.
• Mentor apprentices and support mentoring by others.
• Host tours and visits to encourage careers in mechanical engineering.
• Attend careers events and host work experience placements.
• Support apprentices in becoming ambassadors for engineering careers.
