Job summary

Moog Aircraft Group is seeking an apprentice-trained, experienced Manual/CNC Grinder to join our Wolverhampton facility. You will work on high-precision grinding tasks, including manual land grinding and CNC operations, supporting aerospace projects.

The role demands close tolerance work, experience with Studer machines, and the ability to inspect parts and maintain quality records. Night shift with a substantial allowance applies.

Qualifications

• Recognised engineering apprenticeship or equivalent.
• Mate grinding experience required.
• Experience in engineering/manufacturing roles, preferably aerospace.
• Good knowledge of machining techniques and tooling.

Responsibilities

• Operate and set Manual Studer S20/RM250 machines.
• Operate and set CNC Studer S33/S31 machines.
• Machining of exotic and hardened materials.
• Carry out first-off inspection and document quality records.
• Perform precision manual grinding to tight tolerances (0.00005 inches).
• Set up and run multiple machines and processes.
• Night shift with shift allowance.

Job Summary

Moog Aircraft Group is looking for an apprentice trained, experienced Manual / CNC Grinder to join the team at our facility based in Wolverhampton.

At Moog we're focused on the customer and for us this means designing complex mechanical products that are often bespoke and high profile. Our Machinists work to exceptionally close tolerance, an essential requirement of the aerospace industry.

Responsibilities

• Experience operating, setting Manual Studer machines S20/RM250 and operating/ setting CNC (Studer S33/S31)
• Capability of machining exotic and hardened materials
• Carry out own 1st off inspection and check/complete the necessary quality documentation
• Precision manual land grinding, working to achieve limits to 0.00005"
• Able to set and run multiple machine / processes.
• Night shift (includes a generous shift allowance; note: allowance is not paid during the training period)

Key Skills and Experience

• A recognised engineering apprenticeship
• Mate grinding experience required
• Previous experience within an engineering/manufacturing role within the aerospace industry
• Good knowledge of machining techniques and appropriate tooling
• Attention to detail and accuracy and process improvement
• Using the relevant inspection techniques/equipment to achieve drawing tolerance

Security Clearance Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance is required and must be maintained for this role. Please note that in the event that clearance cannot be obtained, you may not be eligible for the role, and/or any offer of employment may be withdrawn on grounds of national security.
