Job summary

Optical Precision in Hemel Hempstead is seeking a skilled CNC Grinder to operate Studer grinders on the late shift, 6PM-4AM, Monday to Thursday. This permanent, on-site role focuses on high-precision aerospace components and requires strict adherence to tolerances.

You will set up and monitor CNC grinding processes, interpret engineering drawings, and contribute to process improvements while maintaining safety and quality standards in a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

• Experience setting and operating Studer CNC grinders and manual machines.
• Understanding of trigonometry or mathematical concepts.

CNC Grinder (Studer ) - Late Shift

Location: Hemel Hempstead

Salary: £22.00 - £25.00 Per Hour, Plus Overtime & Benefits

Shift: 6PM - 4AM, Monday to Thursday

Overtime: Available at enhanced rates

Role Description

This is a full-time , on-site role. You'll join a strong, collaborative team in a modern,

well-maintained facility, producing high-precision components for the Aerospace sector. The

work involves small to medium batch production with medium to high complexity. Your main

responsibility will be setting, and operating CNC grinding machines (Studer) ensure machining

processes are optimised for accuracy, efficiency, and repeatability.

CNC Grinder - Key responsibilities

• Set, operate, and manage CNC grinding equipment (Studer)
• Monitor machining processes and make adjustments as required

CNC Grinder - Experience and skills required

• Experience setting and operating Studer CNC Grinders and manual machines
• Have some understanding of mathematical concepts required (e.g. trigonometry)
• Experience of working in a manufacturing environment
• Commercial awareness and professionalism
• A good standard of general education with basic computer and numerical skills
• Astute attention to detail with steady hand-eye coordination
• Good organisational skills, methodical and accurate
• Good communications skills (written & verbal)
• Ability to work to tight tolerances without supervision
