Skilled Machinist / CNC Setter & Operator - Aerospace Engineering
Location: Rochford, Essex
Salary: Up to £35,000 per annum
Hours: Monday to Thursday, 6:45am - 4:30pm (37‑hour week)

We have an excellent opportunity for a skilled CNC Setter/Operator to join a well‑established aerospace manufacturing business in Rochford. This role is ideal for an experienced machinist who is keen to expand their skillset by learning centreless grinding while working within a precision engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Set and operate CNC machines and a range of second‑operation equipment.
- Learn and develop skills in centreless grinding as part of your daily role.
- Operate equipment including grinders, drill banks, part markers, deburring equipment, depitching presses and torque testers.
- Carry out first‑off inspections and in‑process quality checks.
- Read engineering drawings and manufacture components to 0.5 tolerances.
- Confidently use micrometres and precision measuring equipment.
- Help minimise scrap and improve production efficiency.
- Complete daily maintenance and production documentation.
- Maintain a safe, clean and organised working environment.
- Work in line with aerospace quality standards and health & safety procedures.
About You
- Skilled CNC Setter/Operator with experience in a precision engineering environment.
- Aerospace manufacturing experience is highly desirable.
- Willing to learn centreless grinding and develop new machining skills.
- Able to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Experienced working with aluminium, stainless steel and Inconel.
- Confident working to tight tolerances and using micrometres.
- Experience with grinding or thread rolling would be advantageous but is not essential.
- Reliable, quality‑focused and a strong team player with excellent attention to detail.
