Job summary

SER Limited in Essex is seeking a Field Service Engineer to join their team. The role focuses on CNC turning machines, including sliding-head Swiss-type lathes and fixed-head lathes, with installation, servicing and breakdown support across the UK and Ireland.

You will diagnose mechanical and electrical faults, perform PLC testing, and travel frequently. Experience with Fanuc or Mitsubishi controls is advantageous; a flexible, positive attitude to travel is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience with CNC machinery in field service or maintenance.
• Mechanical or electrical engineering background advantageous.
• Willingness to travel UK & Ireland including overnight stays.

Responsibilities

• Carry out CNC machine installations, servicing, repairs and breakdown support.
• Work on sliding-head Swiss-type lathes and fixed-head CNC machines (e.g. Miyano).
• Diagnose electrical faults (E-stop, interlocks, safety systems).
• Carry out PLC testing and diagnostics.
• Provide customer support across the UK & Ireland with regular travel and overnight stays.
