Job summary

Marton Recruitment Ltd is seeking a highly skilled CNC 5-Axis Programmer, Setter & Operator to join our manufacturing client’s team in the UK. You will programme, set up and operate 5-axis machines to produce high-precision components, with emphasis on tight tolerances and process consistency.

The role requires strong knowledge of CAD/CAM tools, especially SolidWorks, and the ability to interpret technical drawings.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as CNC Programmer/Setter/Operator in 5-axis machining.
• Proficiency in CAD/CAM software, especially SolidWorks.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and tolerances.
• Experience with plastics injection moulding is advantageous.

This role involves programming, setting up, and operating advanced CNC machinery to produce high-precision components. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge and experience with various manufacturing processes, including grinding, milling, and plastics injection moulding. Duties

• Develop and input CNC programmes using CAD/CAM software, primarily SolidWorks and other relevant tools.
• Set up CNC machines accurately, ensuring proper alignment of tooling and fixtures.
• Operate 5-Axis CNC machines to produce complex parts with tight tolerances.
• Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting on CNC equipment.
• Utilise hand tools, power tools, and specialised tooling to assemble components as required.
• Conduct quality checks on machined parts using precision measurement instruments.
• Assist in the optimisation of machining processes for efficiency and quality improvements.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Maintain a clean and organised work environment adhering to safety standards.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a CNC Programmer, Setter & Operator specialising in 5-Axis machining.
• Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks and experience with CAM programming.
• Knowledge of grinding, milling, welding, and plastics injection moulding processes is desirable.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics.
• Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, tooling selection, and assembly techniques.
• Basic mathematical skills for calculations related to machining tolerances and measurements.
• Experience working with plastics or in environments involving plastics injection moulding is advantageous.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
• Good organisational skills with attention to detail to ensure high-quality output.
