Job summary

Yolk Recruitment is seeking a CMM Technician for a 12-month fixed-term contract in South Wales. The role focuses on manual CMM inspection and metrology support to ensure components meet specifications. Experience with GD&T and reading drawings is essential.

The position involves hands-on quality work, calibrations, and supporting quality investigations, with potential to become permanent for the right candidate. A proactive, team-oriented mindset is required.

Qualifications

• Experience in manufacturing, especially in quality or metrology.
• Knowledge of metrology and GD&T.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and work to tight tolerances.
• Understanding of quality systems and inspection processes.
• CMM experience with Virtual DMIS or similar software is advantageous.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills; able to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Measure and verify supplier and internal initial sample inspection reports.
• Inspect components with CMM and other metrology equipment.
• Read and interpret drawings, specifications and tolerances.
• Support quality investigations and report findings to senior staff.
• Identify non-conformances and assist corrective actions.
• Calibrate gauges and inspection equipment via external suppliers.
• Conduct internal quality audits.
• Collaborate with quality and production to resolve issues.
• Contribute to Lean and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain accurate inspection records and documentation.
• Provide training and guidance to colleagues as required.
• Maintain a safe, clean and organised working environment.
