Qualifications

We have an exciting opportunity to recruit an Operational Manager to lead the Northampton Rural Communty Mental Health Team (CMHT) based in Daventry, Northamptonshire.

The Operational Manager is responsible for the day to day operational management and leadership of the CMHT. As community mental health services continue to transform, this is a key role which requires the post holder to embrace and lead change positively to shape the future of the service.

The Operational Manager will work as part of a triumvirate leadership structure alongside B7 Clinical Leads / Specialist Nurses to lead the CMHT, reporting to a B8a locality Service Manager. The Operational Manager will deputise in the absence of the Service Manager and will participate in the Mental Health Manager-on-Call roster.

The Operational Manager is responsible for managing resources to provide quality mental health care to a defined population. It is essential to be able to develop partnership working, relationship management and integration with Voluntary Community and Social Enterprises, social care, primary care and other NHFT teams, to ensure that service users and carers can access timely care and have a seamless journey through services.

The Operational Manager will provide, receive and lead on complex, sensitive, or contentious information where complex skills are needed for operational and clinical situations.

Main duties of the job
  • The Operational Manager is responsible for the safety, welfare and line management of the staff working in their team, ensuring safe patient care and clinical performance. Team compliance with supervisions and appraisals is paramount. Responsibilities include sickness management, performance monitoring, staff wellbeing, coaching, mentoring and resolving conflict; facilitating team processes that adhere to Human Resources functions where appropriate.
  • Duties involve using a range of systems including Healthroster, Electronic Staff Record (ESR), Agresso, SystmOne, incident reporting/risk register, SMART, monthly clinical audit and mandatory training reports to ensure the achievement of key performance indicators. Expected results are defined, but the post holder has the autonomy to decide how these are achieved.
  • The Operational Manager is responsible for chairing Business Meetings, staff training days and dissemination of information from the Senior Management Team.
  • The Operational Manager is responsible for oversight of PALS, complaints and compliments for their team, and will work proactively with service users and carers to resolve and learn from concerns raised.
  • The Operational Manager will work alongside the Clinical Lead to ensure adherence to local and national safeguarding procedures and the developing, implementation and embedding of national / local policy.
