Job summary

The Cluster Lead Pharmacy Technician will play an integral role in the GM Medicines Optimisation team, shaping the future of pharmacy and medicines optimisation across Greater Manchester.

Through previous experience, knowledge, and skills, the post holder will quickly build credibility with partners to ensure NHS GM is assured of high-quality, safe services. They will motivate, inspire, and work collaboratively to support the transformation and development of NHS GM.

They will lead the development of cluster working arrangements for medicines optimisation across assigned locality/place teams and ensure the delivery of the medicines optimisation strategy and operational plan.

The post holder will develop operational plans for Greater Manchester, supporting integrated working, transformational change, and managing technical input in a complex, dynamic public sector environment across organisational boundaries.

Main duties of the job

1. Coordinate and lead the development and implementation of Cluster-wide workstreams, such as cost improvement, population health management, and reducing health inequalities.
2. Build key relationships with health and social care professionals system-wide.
3. Lead, organize, and manage technical input as part of the Medicines Optimisation Team across GM.
4. Support the Lead Pharmacy Technician with training and workforce development, focusing on medicines optimisation technicians.
5. Ensure the successful delivery of CIP targets and support quality initiatives and standards.
6. Develop and implement policies and procedures for internal and external use.
7. Support policy and process implementation for medicines optimisation teams at GM and regional levels by participating in key groups such as IPMO and proxy ordering.
8. Provide technical and clinical expertise, advice, and leadership to the technician workforce.
9. Maintain effective communication and stakeholder management.
10. Interpret data and explain prescribing, financial, and quality data to stakeholders.
