Stars Gym is looking to recruit an experienced, driven individual to manage our Battersea site. Reporting to the Club Director, the Club Manager will be responsible for increasing membership numbers while maintaining the friendly and welcoming atmosphere that we have created. The Club Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, staff, and key business functions of the gym.

Responsibilities:

Need to do:

• Set the team rota and handle annual leave and overtime requests to ensure appropriate staffing levels.
• Assist the Sales and Marketing manager in lead generation efforts, identifying opportunities and ensuring consistent inflow of prospects.
• Handle recruitment processes to attract, hire, and retain qualified staff.
• Conduct regular one-to-one sessions with team members to support development and address concerns.
• Track health and safety compliance, including monitoring maintenance contracts.
• Supervise group exercise management to ensure high-quality classes that meet member expectations.
• Oversee processes related to membership freezes and cancellations, providing guidance to members where necessary and handling more complex requests.
• Manage personal training (PT) subscriptions and ensure effective promotion.
• Drive secondary spend through personal training, retail, food and beverage offerings, and studio hire.
• Promote and manage community memberships, fostering connections within the local community.
• Control costs by tracking spend across multiple expenditure lines and handling stock ordering to maintain adequate inventory levels for gym operations.

• Lead by example, providing guidance and support to staff to meet goals and deliver exceptional service.
• Represent the gym as a professional brand ambassador, fostering a positive community image.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, taking proactive measures to address risks.
• Promote a culture of teamwork and continuous improvement, encouraging staff development.

Need to be:

• Organised and detail-oriented, with strong problem-solving abilities to handle operational complexities.
• Experienced in marketing, sales, and customer service, with a proven track record of achieving business goals.
• Excellent communicator with leadership skills to inspire and motivate teams effectively.
• Knowledgeable about health and safety protocols and gym industry standards.
• Creative and resourceful, able to implement innovative strategies to drive secondary spend and membership growth.
• Able to delegate responsibilities to other members of the team where necessary.
• Flexible to cover shifts where needed

Measured by:

• Staff satisfaction and performance metrics, including effective rota management and one-to-one sessions.
• Meeting Net Member Movement (NMM) targets
• Meeting revenue and net profit targets
• Member satisfaction rates ensuring a high Net Promoter Score (NPS), Google review and Classpass ratings
• Growth in secondary spend across personal training, retail, food and beverage, and studio hire.
• Effective recruitment and retention of qualified staff.
• Health and Safety Audit results ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, including maintenance and contract adherence.
• Engagement and attendance in group exercise classes.
• Timely stock ordering and inventory management.
