Job summary

Upwind Security, a fast-growing cloud security platform, is seeking a Security Engineer to join the MDR team as the founding U.K. member. The role focuses on proactive reviews, advanced guidance for customers, and UK-hours coverage within a hybrid, in-office setup in Belfast.

You will work with analysts, researchers, and engineers to elevate detection, response, and threat investigation capabilities. You will lead complex investigations across cloud environments, API security, and malware

Qualifications

• Hands-on cybersecurity experience in cloud environments.
• Strong knowledge of detection engineering and incident response.
• Ability to analyze threats across supply chain, API, malware and runtime contexts.

Responsibilities

• Fine-tune Upwind's detection and response mechanisms.
• Lead proactive reviews of customer environments to identify risks and exposed attack surfaces.
• Conduct in-depth security investigations and develop playbooks to improve detection and response.
• Collaborate with Security Analysts, Research, and Backend teams to improve detection quality.
• Own handling of complex incidents escalated from Tier 1/2, including live engagements with customers.
• Participate in recurring customer meetings, translating findings into actionable recommendations.
• Stay up to date with emerging threats and best practices in cloud security.
• Contribute to AI-driven detection model development and training.
