Job summary

Howdens Joinery is seeking a Cloud Platform Engineer in the UK to design, build, and operate scalable Azure cloud platforms. The role requires 5+ years in Cloud, IaC, Kubernetes, and CI/CD, with strong security and networking experience.

You will automate infrastructure, deploy secure systems, and support development and production environments. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, architects, and release managers to deliver containerized solutions using Kubernetes and Docker for

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience in Azure Cloud.
  • 5+ years with IaC and Terraform.
  • 5+ years building and managing Kubernetes environments.
  • 5+ years with Azure DevOps or other CI/CD platforms.
  • 5+ years of experience with cloud security and connectivity (Key Vault, vNet, DNS, firewalls, VPN, GTM, NSG).
  • Practical experience with containerization and clustering (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience building automated CI/CD pipelines with SonarQube, Fortify, Selenium.
  • Excellent communicator who can influence decision makers across cross-functional teams.
  • Desirable: Azure Active Directory, CAF, API Management, cloud monitoring, CDN, HA across zones/regions.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy solutions that improve collaboration and productivity for development teams.
  • Automate infrastructure, automate workflows, and measure/improve application performance.
  • Create, maintain, and deploy secure, highly available, fault-tolerant systems at scale across on-premise and cloud-native architectures.
  • Support development, testing, and production environments.
  • Develop and maintain solutions for operational administration, system and data backup, disaster recovery, and security and performance monitoring.
  • Deploy and maintain CI/CD pipelines across multiple environments to maximize efficiency and enable daily code deployment by delivery teams.
  • Develop policies, standards, governance, and guidance for teams using the CI/CD pipelines.
  • Work with architects to design scalable infrastructure and systems for complex applications.
  • Collaborate with the Release Manager on release planning, including deployment steps and pre-/post-deployment activities.
  • Develop and support container-based solutions using Kubernetes and Docker for Azure Cloud.

Job description

Salary: £22,000 - 60,000 per year

Requirements:
  • We need you to have at least 5 years of experience in Azure Cloud.

  • We need you to be an excellent communicator who can influence decision makers and work successfully in cross-functional teams.
  • Desirable experience includes Azure Active Directory, Cloud Adoption Framework, API Management, cloud monitoring, CDN, and high availability across zones and regions.
