Role summary

The Cloud Monitoring and Compliance Engineer ensures visibility into security and compliance across KPMG’s cloud-native tech stack. Responsibilities include managing security configurations, ensuring adherence to guardrails, and supporting cloud environment security, primarily on Windows, Azure, and O365 platforms. The role involves working with a team of security professionals to support multi-cloud environments, including:

  • Analyzing security alerts and requests from internal clients.
  • Customizing Cloud Security Posture Management and Microsoft Defender features to meet KPMG needs.
  • Onboarding new tenants and cloud providers.
  • Implementing automated remediation activities.
  • Collaborating with vendors and internal teams to optimize security tools.
  • Managing and troubleshooting security tools daily.
  • Ensuring compliance with internal controls.
  • Using DevOps practices to document tasks.

Key Accountabilities

  • Analyze security alerts and requests.
  • Customize and enhance cloud security features.
  • Plan and execute automated remediation.
  • Coordinate with vendors and onboard new cloud tenants.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot security tools.

Experience / Qualifications

- Extensive IT experience with major cloud providers.

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.

- Strong knowledge of Cloud Security Posture Management tools (Microsoft MDC, Twistlock, Redlock).

- Experience securing cloud environments, including compliance and certification.

- Understanding of API security and standards.

- Knowledge of exploits, malware, ransomware, detection methods.

- Web architecture and system administration skills.

- Ability to build complex queries in RQL, KQL, or SQL.

- Experience with Azure, AWS, GCP security configurations.

- Programming skills in Python or PowerShell.
