Job summary

Matchtech is seeking an experienced Java Developer for a 14-month contract in a cloud transformation programme. The role focuses on designing, developing and maintaining Java-based microservices within an AWS-hosted landscape.

You will work in a Scrum team, promoting code quality, peer reviews and CI/CD practices, with 2–3 days on site per week across multiple UK locations. Ideal candidates will have Java 8+ and strong Spring Boot/Maven knowledge, plus experience with microservices, AWS and

Qualifications

• Strong commercial experience with Java 8+.
• Experience building cloud-based microservices.
• Strong knowledge of Spring Boot.
• Strong knowledge of Maven.
• Strong knowledge of Guice.
• Strong knowledge of JUnit.
• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL.
• Experience using Git-based source control tools such as Bitbucket or Git.
• Agile/Scrum delivery experience.
• AWS cloud services desirable.
• Kubernetes desirable.
• Helm desirable.
• Jenkins desirable.
• CI/CD pipelines and build automation desirable.
• Experience supporting applications through to production environments desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Java-based microservices.
• Write clean, scalable and well-tested code.
• Perform unit testing and support integration testing activities.
• Conduct and approve peer code reviews.
• Manage code promotion through multiple environments into production.
• Support CI/CD best practices and release processes.
• Mentor and develop junior team members.
• Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Architects and Scrum team members.
