Job summary

IBM Software is recruiting backend engineers to work on Confluent Cloud related backend services. You will design, develop, test and deploy cloud-native backend systems using modern tech stacks, with a focus on reliability and scalability.

You will collaborate with experienced engineers, participate in code reviews, and help improve deployment, monitoring and operational processes across production services.

Qualifications

• Experience developing backend software in a production or professional environment.
• Good programming skills in Java, Go, C/C++, Python, or similar.
• Understanding of testing, code reviews, debugging and documentation.
• Familiarity with REST APIs, microservices and cloud-native development.
• Ability to troubleshoot issues and collaborate with engineers.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to learn new cloud technologies.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend services that deliver value to Confluent Cloud customers.
• Work with senior engineers on designing and implementing scalable, reliable and maintainable services.
• Troubleshoot and debug issues across a technical stack including microservices, containers and cloud infrastructure.
• Write clean, well-tested and maintainable code following software engineering best practices.
• Contribute to code reviews, technical discussions and documentation.
• Support the deployment, monitoring and operation of production services.
• Collaborate with engineers across different teams to deliver projects and resolve technical challenges.
• Learn and contribute to improvements in service reliability, performance and operational processes.
