Job summary

Asda Stores is seeking an experienced Cloud Engineering Manager to lead the Cloud Platform Team in delivering and evolving a large Azure estate. You will steer engineering priorities, set standards, and work hands-on to advance platform, security and cloud modernisation initiatives across the organisation.

You will guide engineers, balance delivery with governance, and partner with stakeholders to enable secure, scalable cloud solutions while maintaining a high-performing, collaborative team

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading cloud engineering teams in enterprise environments.
• Strong Azure expertise and hands-on cloud engineering background.
• Experience delivering Infrastructure as Code with Terraform.
• Knowledge of security controls, governance and platform reliability.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a team of cloud engineers.

• Prioritise and allocate work across the team, balancing strategic initiatives and technical debt.
• Remove delivery blockers and support engineers in delivering high-quality outcomes.

Asda is looking for an experienced Cloud Engineering Manager to join the Cloud Platform Team, leading a team of cloud engineers responsible for building, operating and evolving one of the UK's largest Azure estates.

This role combines people leadership, technical direction and delivery management with hands-on involvement in cloud engineering. You will be responsible for developing engineers, setting priorities and engineering standards, and ensuring the successful delivery of platform, automation, security and cloud modernisation initiatives across the organisation.

You are an experienced cloud engineering manager with strong Azure expertise and a proven track record of leading engineering teams within complex enterprise environments. You have a pragmatic approach to automation, governance and cloud operations, and are passionate about developing engineers and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

You can balance people leadership with technical credibility, setting clear direction while remaining engaged in the technology and supporting the team in solving complex engineering challenges. You build strong stakeholder relationships, manage competing priorities effectively and enable the delivery of secure, reliable and scalable cloud platform capabilities.
